What to Expect At The Appointment
We want to provide you and your child with the most comfortable visit as possible. To prepare you for your first appointment, here is a brief description of a typical appointment, so that you may feel at ease.
Upon arrival, we will ask for your insurance card to verify your coverage and to provide your most current contact information. If you are new to the practice, you will be required to fill out some additional forms including permission to obtain previous records and consent to treat. Depending on the age of your child and the type of visit, you may be asked to fill out some additional developmental screening forms.
After you and your child are checked-in and have completed the necessary paperwork, you will be called back to one of our exam rooms by one of our medical assistants. They will proceed to take your vitals which may include your weight, height, blood pressure, and temperature. Depending on the age of your child, there may be additional evaluations needed such as vision and hearing.
After the vital signs are obtained, your child will be assessed by a physician. For patients 12 years and older, the physician will need to speak with them without a parent present to give them an opportunity to discuss any issues in confidence.
After the examination, any lab tests, prescriptions, and/or shots will be given as indicated. We will be happy to address any concerns or questions about vaccinations prior to giving them.
Before leaving, you will be given adequate time to speak to the physician and to address any questions or concerns about your child. It is recommended to write down any questions you may have before the appointment so they can be addressed at the visit.
Upon leaving, you may be given any additional information sheets regarding your child's condition and a patient summary of what was discussed at the visit.
